Aaliyah Dana Haughton came into fame in 1994 after she released her debut Album Age Ain't Nothing But an Number. The album, launched when she was only 15 years old, went Gold. This collaboration was highly influenced by R. Kelly, and helped put her onto the scene. The year 1996 saw her release her sophomore album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. It contained the hit number one track If Your Girl Only was aware. Aaliyah received international recognition for her R&B singing on the album. Aaliyah appeared alongside famous martial artist Jet-Li Romeo Must Die (2000), an action and romance film. Joel Silver, a film producer, who was attending an award ceremony at the time she landed the role was able to spot her. In 2002, she appeared as part of the Anne Rice-based horror film Queen of the Damned. After that, she entered the Matrix by playing Zee as Zee in The Matrix Sequels having also been as a character in The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 as well as The Matrix Revolutions in the same year. Other notable work includes Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. The commercials she has done have been for major brands, such as Volvo. She lives in Los Angeles where she continues to work as an actor.
