Aaliyah Dana Haaughton gained prominence after the release of her first album Age Ain't Nothing More Than A Number in the year 1994. She was only 15 at when the album was released and it became Gold. R. Kelly was a major influence on this collaboration that put her in the spotlight. In 1996, she released her sophomore album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album featured the top-selling track If Your Girl Only knew. Aaliyah received international recognition for her R&B songs with this album. Aaliyah starred alongside the famous martial artist Jet-Li Romeo Must Die (2000) the action and romance film. She got this role after being spotted by the film's producer Joel Silver at an awards event. In 2002 she was in the vampire movie Queen of the Damned based on the Anne Rice book. She also was on screen in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. In 2001, 1999, 2002, and 2003 the singer was nominated for four Grammy Awards. She has appeared in numerous commercials for Volvo's international automobile producer. She currently lives at Los Angeles along with her spouse, daughter, and husband. She is also pursuing her acting profession.
